When organising network devices, stability and maintainability must be considered. Hiding them too deeply, placing them too close together, or bending cables sharply can make restarting and replacing devices troublesome later on.
Routers: Preserve antenna and heat dissipation space
Do not completely surround the device with metal objects; external antennas should be adjustable, and heat dissipation vents should not be blocked by walls or cables.
Avoid sharp bends in fibre optic cables
The thin cables near the fibre optic modem should not be sharply bent or caught by cabinet doors. Allow for natural curves and space for technicians to work.
Separate power and signal cables
Power strips can be placed in an adjacent but easily accessible location, avoiding stacked power bricks and overheating; label network cables to indicate their destination.

Test signal before finalising placement
Use the devices continuously for several days in the intended location. Only finalise placement after confirming room coverage, internet speed, and stability.
If network equipment is managed by a provider, check their installation requirements before moving or re-cabling.
